Making Inclusivity and Diversity a priority

I believe in weddings where people prioritize the fact they are in love and want to have a ceremony and celebration that truly represents them. I used to think I needed to focus on my “ideal client.” What does that even mean? Should we be exclusively catering to these “perfect couples” that are over represented in the wedding industry? These white, skinny, wealthy couples with tattoos getting married at a resort in Mexico? Listen, I want to shoot that wedding - I do and I have. But I want to make sure I am shooting and featuring all weddings. Weddings that prioritize each person’s individual personality and find ways to incorporate their passions - I totally get that might be eating tacos on the beach. Or going on a hike in Iceland. But it could be something completely different. A brewery in golden. Or your aunt’s backyard. Let’s throw tradition out the window and start from scratch.

We all know there is a distinct lack of visual representation in the wedding industry of anyone who is perceived as not what society normalizes. I commit to re-defining normal as diverse and inclusive through my photography as much as I can. I not only welcome, but celebrate (very enthusiastically) any client who has a hard time finding people who look like them or live like them in media in today’s society. What once started as a mission to represent non-traditional weddings became one that believes you shouldn't have to put 'LGBTQ+' or 'same-sex' in front of the word wedding to find equality online. I believe Black Lives Matter. I commit to prioritizing inclusion and racial justice both in business and outside of it.

I am a business that commits to being a safe space and seeks to include and advocate for all identities and cultures within wedding photography and engagement services. I commit to doing my best when it comes to recommending vendors who are also aligned with these values. It’s important for businesses to be transparent and make a stance on these issues.
